Stone Brothers and Byrd-Very cool old school garden shop in downtown Durham across from the old ballpark. They have been in business since 1913! They carry Bonnie Plant Farms transplants as well as seed packets. They are the only place in town (as far as I know) that carries bulk seeds as well as bulk seed potatoes, onion sets, shallots, and garlic.

Durham Garden Center– Located on old Hillsborough rd in Durham. Local garden store that carries local vegetable transplants as well as trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals. We sometimes find “hard to find plants here.

Barnes Supply-Ninth st in Durham. Local shop that has some gardening tools, fertilizer, and soils. They will have some Bonnie Plant Farms transplants and some seeds.
Big Box
There are plenty of Lowe’s and Home Depot’s in the area. They usually have a large amount but moderate selection of seed available starting in February. In the fall they have a small selection of seeds available. They usually have a steady supply of transplants starting in late February as well. During the spring, they have sales on transplants and is usually your best deal. Also in the spring, they carry some packages of tubers and onion sets.

These guys have everything. The seed selection is huge. What we like about burpee is that you can also order transplants online, and will ship to your home. They look at your time zone and ship at the appropriate time!
Johnnyseeds.com-Also an excellent selection of seeds. These guys are strictly non GMO and also carry some unusual varieties.
