All of our gardens and installs come with a one year workmanship guarantee. What this means is that if something should fail due to workmanship within one year, we will repair or replace.

Your success is important to us, that’s why after every install we answer any questions you may have, as well as teach an easy gardening method to use. We also offer email support and send you our gardening guide “Growing Vegetables in Piedmont NC”

Our typical lead time for a custom built garden is 3-4 weeks but depends on the scope. We receive many requests for consultations/installs during March and April and urge everyone considering working with us to contact us sooner than the spring planting season.

There are no guarantees on coloring of products. Natural forestry and stone products naturally vary. We do our best to be consistent.

If needed, it is the homeowners responsibility to call 811 before the install to check for underground utility lines.

We will ALWAYS choose to use organic compost or organic soil blends and sourcing will be determined by your address.

Bull City Gardens LLC is not responsible for any soil issues from purchased bulk soil or bagged. If issues arise, please contact us so we can direct you to the supplier.

We are a family owned small business and enjoy creating gardens for our clients. However, this isn’t our primary employment. Currently, consultations are done during the week and installs are performed Friday through Sunday.

Consultations can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 1.5 hours

Our current operating radius is 30 minutes from zip code 27705. Distances farther than 30 minutes are taken on a case by case basis.

The Bull City Gardens Starter Homestead is a great fit for people or families who want to start homesteading or gardening and have the budget to have it installed. We designed this garden to be more budget friendly to allow more people easier access to growing their own food. Budget friendly simply means that this garden is on the lower end of our pricing per square foot, there is still plenty of hardwork and planning going into this. The Starter Homestead comes with a gardening guide designed to maximize harvests using two combined methods of gardening. With 216 square feet of growing space, you can start growing, harvesting, and preserving! Here are some of the features:

  • 22’x22′ or 484 total square foot
  • 216 square foot growing space
  • 4′ high split rail fence with welded wire and a 3’gate
  • Four no till “On Ground” 3’x18′ wide rows at 4″ high
  • Mulch walkways 4″ high
  • Cardboard underneath for weed management
  • 100% organic
  • One 3’x10’x8″ raised bed for root crops made of oak or cedar
  • Broadfork, organic fertilizer, and gardening guide included
  • Gardening method based on a combination of square foot gardening and farming practices used by Josh Sattin of Sattin Hill Farms. It is a no-till, bio intensive method designed for maximum production while regenerating the soil
  • There are no subsitutions or changes made to to this style garden in order to keep costs down
  • We will need to come and verify that the space is sufficient for a garden before sending a deposit
  • Installs limited to a 20 minute radius of Durham, NC. Outside of that is taken on a case by case basis.
  • The Starter Homestead will be installed in blocks. For the summer growing season we will be installing during the month of April, and accepting requests through March 15th. Fall garden installs will take place in August, with a cutoff of July 15th. Spring garden installs will take place in February, with a cutoff of January 15th.
